The Verve Pipe

Skate War III
The annual Skate War Contests have become one of the largest and most anticipated Amateur Skateboard / Inline competitions in the nation.The entire event will be held at the Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort, Mount Pleasant Michigan. The resort is providing skaters with an amazing street course including spines, boxes, rails, pyramids, and all that other fun stuff. There’s even going to be a half pipe and a mini ramp. Skaters who qualify on the mini ramp will earn a spot skating at the Detroit stop of this year’s Vans Warped Tour at Comerica Park.This event is FREE! The events are as follows: 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort Concert Room, mandatory competitor check-in & registration. Skater will pay the $20.00 registration fee, sign all appropriate documents, be placed into bracket & receive information relating to skate time, rules, judging etc.
Skaters will also receive a gift package containing t-shirts, lanyard and other surprises.

8:00 am - 10:30 am Skater warm up. Skaters will be allowed to practice on event course. The amount of skaters will be controlled to prevent overcrowding and injuries.
8:30 am - 10:00 am Late Registration. A fee of $25.00 is required. This will take place at the event site which will be located in front of the Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort.
11:00 am All skaters will gather inside course for welcome, introduction & rules.
All skaters are required to wear helmets.
11:30 am - 6:00 pm WAR BEGINS!
Skaters will be placed into the following categories
Beginners, 6yr - 8yr
9yr -11yr
12yr-14yr
15yr & up
The same age brackets will apply to Intermediate and advanced divisions.
Each Skater will be allowed a 2 minutes followed by a 10 minute jam with the entire bracket.
The top 3 in each age bracket and level move on to the finals taking place Sunday at 11:00 am

Art Reach Grand Opening Event Celebrating Expanded Art Gallery and Offices
This event will offer the public a chance to view the new office and gallery/performance space, enjoy the new gallery and inaugural art exhibit featuring the work of Mt. Pleasant sculptor Rose Wunderbaum Traines. At Art Reach of Mid Michigan, 111 E. Broadway St.-Festivities begin on Thursday,at 5:00 p.m. for a Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting.
